Humor: Ditched Mustang

On my way home from dinner this evening I got to witness one of those truly humorous events where someone does something stupid and isn't permanently damaged.

I was driving home from Denton on 377, a mostly two lane highway, and pulled up behind a Mustang at a stoplight. The road was wet from a gentle rain but since it's been raining the 4 out of the last 5 days, the roads aren't really slick anymore. The light turns green and the driver of the Mustang must have been doing something else because it took him a few seconds to start moving. He started off nice and slow, but then decided it might be fun to spin his tires a bit and try and accelerate away from my little car. He held it together pretty well for about the first 30 feet or so and then all of a sudden starts fishtailing.

I'm assuming it was a kid, because an experienced driver could have easily handled it the small slip, but instead of backing off and turning into the spin, he punched it and turned away from the spin, which made it much worse. After a couple of swings, he ended up, foot still on the accelerator, sliding perpendicular to the roadway. Even at this point, he could have easily stopped and taken a 3 point turn of shame and gone on his way, but he he finally let his foot off the accelerator just enough for he wheels to catch and propel him, in slow motion, off the side of the road into a 45 deg ditch which just happened to be the same depth as the length of his car.

He slid down the embankment at no more than 1-2 mph, so I knew he hadn't been hurt. As I passed I had to shake my head as I watched him put it in reverse and start digging it into soil that's had a good 5 day soak. Thankfully the roadway had been clear so he didn't damage any other vehicles.
