Android: My Tracks - Record your Outdoor Activity

My Tracks is a handy application for Android that allows you to record your outdoor activity and log it to Google Maps and to a spreadsheet in Google Docs. I've pasted output from the popup on one of my Google maps showing today's walk. Elevation is not as accurate as location, but according to the FAQ relative elevation is fairly accurate.

Android Developer Lab 2010 Austin TX

Img_0164

Took a quick round-trip to Austin yesterday to attend the Android Developer Lab. Thankfully, I was able snag a seat on the back row near a power plug, since the auditorium we were in did not have power near each seat. Many people's batteries ran out well before the coding session.

I was a little disappointed that they handed out Droid's instead of Nexus Ones, but later I realized I didn't have any non-HTC devices for testing so it's a good thing.

This was the first US Lab if I heard correctly. Hopefully the other labs will have power for the attendees. You might consider bringing an extension cord and power strip in case the venue doesn't provide power at the seat.

I've posted photos of the slides in my SmugMug gallery: http://photos.donthorp.net/Events/android-developer-lab-2010/11150497_TnG8u

Titanium: TwitPicClient Testing Help Needed

I'm trying to track down an issue that's been reported on the HTC Hero. This app works fine for me on my G1 with 1.6. It should be compatible with 1.5, 1.6 or 2.0.

If you have another device and would like to try it, the barcode links to a drop.io page. Click download and it will install.

You should be able to post pics using the camera or photo gallery.

The build is using the twitpic in meetup pack and last night's 0.8 of titanium mobile.

If you do test it, please leave a comment with OS Version (1.5, 1.6, or 2.0), Device, and test results.

Thanks!

Files for your development OS are available:

You'll need to unzip it into your mobile SDK directory and restart developer for it to be available. I also recommend changing the 0.7.2 directory to 0.6.9 (an earlier non-existant version) so you'll still get a download notice if we do release a formal 0.7.2.
