Tech: An Unladen Laptop

I stopped by Best Buy to see if they had a laptop for a friend. On the bright side, they were sold out of most of the reasonable models. The blue shirt staff was very helpful but what failed to notice was a clipboard carrier standing beside them.

She asked if I needed help, I replied, "No, you're sold out of models that I would consider". I thought that was the end of the discussion, as I turned to leave she pounced. Keep in mind I normally try and consider what I'm about to say to insure that the message gets delivered properly.

As I was turning she blurted, "Could you tell me why you were going to get the computer we're sold out of."

I looked at her and and slowed my speech down as slow as I could and replied, "because I had purchased a similar one before and it worked well enough".

"When you purchased that one was in because of the bundled Anti-virus and office software"?

Which is apparently the code phase for turning off my filters and contorting my face into a mask of horror, I blurted out, "O Gawd NO, I want that crap off of there."

As I turned to leave, I glanced over at one of the Blue Shirts who had a knowing apologetic look on her face, that I read as "yeah we've told her that too".
